In-Home Lessons

I offer in-home piano lessons in Encino, Sherman Oaks, and nearby areas — a convenient, fun way for your child — or you — to learn to play piano in a comfortable environment. I’m Jackie Johnson, a professional pianist, teacher, and performer with decades of experience helping students discover their musical gifts.

I currently teach students in the area and also perform nearby at El Caballero Country Club, which makes scheduling flexible and convenient for local families.

About Jackie

I’m a professional pianist and teacher with decades of experience helping students discover their musical spark. My background is in both classical and jazz, and I’ve spent years performing everywhere from local clubs to private events — including regular gigs at El Caballero and San Gabriel Country Clubs.

I’ve also worked behind the scenes in film and TV as a dialogue and sound editor, with credits on over 200 projects. That experience sharpened my ear and taught me the value of rhythm, timing, and listening — all things I bring into every lesson.

My teaching style blends structure and creativity. I help kids build strong foundations while keeping things fun and flexible. And for adults, I offer a thoughtful approach that supports both new learners and folks returning to piano after a long break.

Whether you’re learning for fun, stress relief, or something more serious — I’d love to help.

Lesson Scheduling

  • Lessons are held weekly at the same time each week, and I travel to you — right here in Encino!
  • For rates and availability, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to chat and find a time that works for everyone.
  • Please note: since each lesson time is reserved just for you, I do ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full.

Lesson Lengths:

  • 30 minutes – Ideal for young beginners (ages 6–8) or adults just getting started.
  • 45 minutes – Great for students who practice regularly and are ready to go deeper.
  • 60 minutes – Perfect for motivated students, jazz learners, or those wanting time to explore and ask questions.

💬 Not sure which lesson length is right for your child? Let’s talk! I’ll help you choose what makes the most sense during our free trial lesson.

Why Students Choose Me

I tailor lessons to each student — their interests, personality, and learning style. Some students thrive with a structured approach; others need room to explore and play. Either way, I focus on making lessons engaging and encouraging, while building a strong foundation in music.

My goal is to help kids feel confident and proud of what they can do — and to help adults find joy, focus, and a sense of accomplishment at the piano. Whether we’re working on a Bach prelude or a favorite pop song, I meet students where they are and help them grow from there.
